The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), in association with the Centre for Open Learning, is conducting a Basic Course in AI for Film & Video Generation in Mumbai from 12th to 16th May 2026.

The course will be led by Bharat Arora, focusing on how artificial intelligence can be integrated into filmmaking in a way that enhances storytelling rather than replacing it.

As AI tools continue to evolve, the need is not just to understand the technology, but to apply it with cinematic intent. This course is designed around that idea — combining traditional filmmaking sensibilities with emerging AI-driven workflows.

Participants will explore how to generate visuals, build narratives, and maintain emotional depth using AI, while staying grounded in the fundamentals of cinema — framing, rhythm, and storytelling.

  • Understanding AI as a filmmaking medium: directing visuals with a focus on ultra-realistic, human-centric storytelling

Why This Course

AI is reshaping how images and films are created. But tools alone don’t create cinema — perspective does.

This course is designed to help participants adapt to new tools while retaining their cinematic voice, ensuring that technology remains a medium, not the message.
