Cinematographer & Generative AI Filmmaker
I began as an engineer and ended up a filmmaker. That journey โ from instrumentation to cinematography โ is probably the most honest thing about how I approach visual storytelling.
After graduating in Instrumentation Engineering from Pune University, I realised the camera was the instrument I actually wanted to master. I pursued a formal Diploma in Camera and Lighting Techniques and began my professional journey under the late Shri Dharam Chopra at B. R. Films, Mumbai โ one of Indian cinema’s most respected production houses. Those years gave me the grammar of cinema: how light builds character, how a frame carries weight, how a single shot can say what dialogue cannot.
I went on to shoot a feature film and several award-winning short films. My work spans narrative cinema, branded content, and corporate films โ always built on the same foundation of strong visual intention and disciplined pre-production.
In recent years, I have moved into Generative AI Filmmaking โ not as a departure from craft, but as an extension of it. I work with tools like Sora, Veo, Kling, Seedance, and Higgsfield the same way I work with a camera: with a shot list, a visual bible, motivated lighting, and a story that earns every frame. The technology changes. The discipline does not.
“AI is not a shortcut. It is a new camera, a new lens, and a new kind of crew. The director’s eye remains the only thing that cannot be generated.”
โ Bharat AroraIn 2026 I served as Course Director for FTII’s Centre for Open Learning flagship programme โ Basic Course in AI in Film and Video Generation โ conducted at Mumbai. The workshop brought together filmmakers, photographers, and content creators for five days of hands-on AI production training, culminating in each team completing and screening a finished AI short film.
